The French Cookie

Who is the French Cookie? A little bit about me...

I was originally forced to create this blog when I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence in 2011 by friends and family back home in North Carolina. Then a year later, I moved to Avignon, France where I was an English teacher. I lived there for a year and had the time of my life! I kept my loved ones up-to-date on my life by posting pictures and describing the crazy adventures that my awesome friends and I had. As much as I love France and even though I didn't want to leave, it was time to go home. After being gone from my home town for 5 years, I ended up landing a job at my old high school as the French teacher. It was such a golden opportunity and I knew that I couldn't pass it up, and good thing I didn't, because I love it! It was definitely a blessing in disguise and I couldn't be happier.

I was born and raised in Matthews, North Carolina (just south of Charlotte, the Queen City) by the most loving, Christian parents in the world. My daddy is a fitness guru and has had a mustache for decades. My mother refers to herself as Mother Teresa and taught me how to be a true southern lady. I have lived in the same house my entire which is a rarity in this day-in-age. My two older sisters are my best friends in the entire world and even though I haven't followed in their steps of getting married by the age of 20, I look up to them and admire them greatly.

Even though I went to school in Chicago, the windy city, I still hold on to my southern roots. I will always hold this saying close to my heart:

The south: the place where...tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y'all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed.

I consider myself a Franco-phile and I love everything from the language to the food. My day isn't complete without cheese is some form, preferably brie or goat cheese. My ultimate goal in life is to open my own french bakery back in the States, hence the name, "The French Cookie."
